July 2015 Newsletter

The beautiful weather we were enjoying earlier in the month, forced me to raid the fabric shelves and set to making some light summer clothes for my wardrobe.  Really great to be dressmaking again, worst bit, choosing which fabric !

At the same time boxes of Christmas fabric arrived at Thimblestitch, an untimely reminder of coming seasons.  Mind you, we have had the first Christmas workshop……..  Lots of lovely new autumn fabrics are also gracing Thimblestitch shelves.

Exciting news Thimblestitch is in partnership with the flower  ladies and residents of Axmouth.

             “Cornucopia of Colour”

It features work by diverse craftspeople. Please come along and support. There will be refreshments available.  6th – 9th August 10am – 7pm in Axmouth Church.

The Birthday Challenge Fabric has certainly got brains a buzzing, with all sorts of lovely ideas, and already received some amazing entries. Lots of lovely prizes. Lewis and Irene have very kindly added to the prize pool.  Ann Baxter will be judging the categories. Including a beginners, for all you newbie’s, so please don’t feel you are not good enough. Workshop Report

The workshops continue to be a huge success, with the standard of Tutors and Students work being remarkable, I just wish I had the time to do all of them as well as run the shop…. Dot Carter Landscapes produced brilliant results, Dot brought plenty of samples and expert advice, she is back again for Perfect Purses, they are so sweet, think I have just got to do this one !

Colouricious Jamie Malden was another great day, printing and bleaching back with discharge paste and still having time to start stitching. Everyone went home with the beginnings of wonderful projects.

Gemma’s Trash to Treasure was deadly quiet, I popped upstairs the concentration cutting cardboard was palettable, lots of glue, tissue paper and paint later….. the most miraculous results.

The two day Carry All Bag produced some wonderful results with personalised finishes.  The day was fully booked and proved so popular that we have booked another two days 27th and 28th  November.

        Rosie’s Colourious

I am hoping to have a gallery page on the website so that I can show you more students work, in the meantime vist Axmouth Church.
