Shipping and deliveries

We send packages via Royal Mail who aim to deliver them in the UK within 2-3 working days, but occasional delays outside our control can mean they sometimes take up to 10 days in total to arrive.

We send our products using  Royal Mail Business 1st class. We have tried hard to set our delivery costs as low as possible.  All costs are calculated automatically at checkout, but please find a guide below. Postage and packing charges apply to all items purchased via our website. Postage and packing charges within the UK are shown in relation to the cost of the ordered items.

Please note in times of high demand shipping may take a little longer. If there are any problems with your order we will let you know as soon as possible by email or telephone. Whilst we make every effort to dispatch your order as quickly as possible, we cannot be held responsible for any delays in delivery caused by Royal Mail. Our system will email you to let you know when we have dispatched your order. If your order hasn’t arrived, please wait 10 days before contacting us about non-delivery. We know it’s frustrating, but it’s most likely on its way and Royal Mail does not respond to enquiries until the 10 days have passed. If your order still hasn’t arrived after 10 days and it’s not been left somewhere for you to collect, please get in touch and we’ll investigate to see if we can track it down for you. And if all else fails, we’ll do our best to replace the original order.

  • Order value: £4.99 or under £2.00
  • Order value: £5 – £9.99 £3.00
  • Order value: £10 – £24.99 £5.00
  • Order value: £25 – £49.99 £7.00
  • Order value: £50 and over FREE! Your order will be sent 2nd class

Currently, we are not able to send items beyond UK Mainland or Overseas.

Returns and exchanges

Customers have the right to withdraw from the purchase of an item within 7 working days beginning the day after the date that the item is delivered.  To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it, and it must be in the original packaging.

Please note that any cut lengths of fabric, trims or haberdashery cannot be returned unless they are faulty or damaged. Please call us or email us to let us know that you are returning your item. We recommend that you receive a proof of posting or send it by recorded delivery.

Sale Items

Items purchased in a sale are not eligible for a refund unless they are faulty. If you are in any doubt please contact us at the time or before making the purchase.

We are unable to arrange returns for:

  • Used and/or final sale items.
  • Fabric which is specifically cut to order.
  • E-Vouchers.

Exchanges

If you would like to exchange an item as part of the return process, please place a new order via email to infothimblestitch@gmail.com Cut fabric is not exchangeable.

In your email and your returns package please include:

  • Full name
  • Telephone number
  • Original Order number
  • Original Order date

If this information is not included in the email and returns package, it becomes difficult for us to refund you or process the exchange.

We cannot pay any postage charges incurred unless the item is faulty

Lost in post

Please be aware we cannot be responsible for items which we do not receive; we recommend you use a recorded service, and you add your address to the parcel you are returning. This helps with finding and identifying packages.

Click and Collect

You can also collect your order from the shop. Select ‘Click and Collect’ option at the checkout,  you will be contacted to arrange your contactless Click and Collect appointment. Click and Collect orders are subject to the same processing time as all other orders.

To return faulty or damaged goods, please ensure that you contact us on 01404 549871 or by emailing us at infothimblestitch@gmail.com (within 7 days) prior to sending them back.  In the event of goods being faulty, we will cover the costs of postage and either refund or exchange the goods.  We advise sending goods back by a signed for service or with proof of postage.

Buying fabrics online

Ordering

Making a purchase could not be easier. Just browse our store, and add any items that you wish to buy into the shopping cart. After you have finished your selection, click on ‘Checkout’ and you will be asked for a few details that we need to be able to complete the order. In addition to the price, you will be required to pay a delivery charge for the goods.

Please note colours are as accurate as the digital process will allow. Our website uses professional digital images supplied by the brands. The thread colours are as closely reproduced as possible, but be aware that colour images can vary slightly between monitors. We, therefore, advise you to use the images on our online shop as a guide only.

All fabrics are cut to order and, unless faulty, cannot be refunded once cut for processing

Prices shown for fabrics are for:

  • A fat quarter,
  • Half-metre
  • Or a panel

(as stated individually for each fabric)

Fat Quarters

A fat quarter – the fabric is cut at 50cm and then slit halfway along the width. A fat quarter is therefore 50cm x 55cm (approx) in size.

If you require 1 metre, add 4 to your basket and we will send you a continuous length of 1m of the selected fabric. Single units will be sent as a single fat quarter if ordered as 1, if you would like a long quarter  (25 cms) please let us know in comments when ordering, if you order an odd number above that we will cut it as a continuous piece, eg. 3 units will be cut as 75cm.

Fabrics sold by the half metre

The above principle applies to fabrics sold in half-metre amounts.

If you require 1 metre, add 2 to your basket and we will send you a continuous length of 1m

Please be careful to make sure you have selected the correct length you need, as cut lengths cannot be returned unless faulty.

Panel Fabrics

We only sell panel fabrics in complete panels; simply enter the number of panels you require.

Sale Fabrics

All our Sale Fabrics are sold as a half metre minimum and in multiples of half a metre. We do NOT sell our Sale Fabrics in fat quarter or quarter metre amounts.

Patchwork Fabrics

All patchwork fabrics listed on our website are 100% cotton with a width of 112-115cm (42″-44″) unless stated otherwise. Patchwork Fabrics are sold per fat quarter unless specifically mentioned in the listing. If you order one it will be sent as a fat quarter; but multiples will be sent as a continuous length.

All quilt backings, waddings, extra-wide fabrics and certain cotton are sold per half a metre, please check the listing description to confirm. If you wish to buy a larger piece, you will need to order multiples, which will be sent as continuous lengths.  Once you order more than one, it will always be sent as a continuous length, not individually cut Fat Quarters.

Care instructions

Machine Wash Cold/Tumble Dry Low, we recommend you always pre-wash or treat your fabrics as you hope to launder your item once made. All fabrics may be liable to a certain amount of shrinkage. You can do this by washing a 10cm x 10cm square of your fabric, you can then measure the shrinkage after laundering.

Pricing Errors

If there is a product that is priced incorrectly on our website then we may need to either cancel and refund your order or will contact you to arrange the payment of the additional amount.

Out of Stock Items

While every effort is made to ensure that the stock on the website reflects the actual levels we have available for sale, sometimes we may not have the item you have paid for on the website. If the fabric is unavailable then we will refund you for that item and dispatch your order without delay. Otherwise, we will contact you to resolve the issue with the lack of stock and will offer an alternative or a refund. We will place your order on hold while we wait to hear from you.

Complaints

We hope you love the products that you have brought from us but should you be unhappy in any way with any aspect of the service or products you receive from us then please contact us and we will do everything reasonable to resolve any issues.
